President Ken Bernard called the meeting to order at 7:36 p.m. In addition to the President and Secretary, the ttendees were Lolitia Bache, Ed Oleata, Arnie Robinson, Joni Shirley, Bob Sieben, and Elizabeth Tate.
The President noted that the October and December meetings were both canceled. The election debate closed Balboa Park in October, and only Bernard and Skelly showed in December.
The President gave the Treasurer's report. The checking account balance was $10,458.03 in October, $9,249.09 in December, and $5,849.79 in February, while the certificates of deposit were another $16,000.
The Board discussed the USATF Convention. Tate reported that the National Junior Olympics Championships were awarded to Southern University in 1997 and Seattle in 1998. The Youth Nationals will be in Spokane in 1998. G. Shirley noted a few changes to the Rules of Competition.
The members approved March 21 for the Awards Dinner. (This date was subsequently changed to March 28 due to unavailability of the Hall of Champions.)

The members unanimously approved Oleata's motion to authorize $1500 to subsidize Track & Field in the Association: Association Championship, All-Comers meets and the All-Comers Championships.
The members unanimously approved Oleata's motion to authorize $200 to advertise the Association Track & Field Championship.
The members nominated winners for the various Annual Awards.
