2014 Youth Awards:   (from Michael Adkins) On behalf of the Youth Committee of the San Diego-Imperial Association, I am pleased to announced the 2014 recipients of the Youth Award that will be presented on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Association Junior Olympics Championships Meet.  Thanks to the Awards Subcommittee members (Bob Vilven, Priscilla Ford and Jay Johnson) for their review of the nominations and the coaches or parents that submitted nominations for consideration.  Please join me in congratulating the following youth athletes for their accomplishments during the 2014 USA San Diego Imperial season:

Youth Committee Meeting:   The Youth Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at the SD-USATF/AllSports office, 3511 Camino Del Rio North, Suite 405, San Diego 92108. Check the 2015 Meeting Schedule for upcoming meetings.

USA Track & Field Foundation Youth Grants:   USA Track & Field Foundation accepting Youth Club grant applications from interested clubs and organizations for its second round of 2015 youth grants, announced USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic.

Youth track clubs and programs from all areas of the United States are encouraged to apply for financial assistance.  The Foundation favors the use of grant money to expand existing youth programs/clubs, to provide additional competitive opportunities for children and to enhance the experience for all participants.  Preference is given to clubs that are based in low-income areas.  It also favors programs that have a history of solid financial management, multiple funding sources and community support.  Allowable expenses include equipment, uniforms, meet fees, travel, facility rental, staff and volunteer training, and outreach.  Click for details.

Youth Clubs:   USATF membership is required to compete in USATF-sanctioned meets.  An athlete may compete as an individual (unattached) or as a member of a club.  Clubs are located throughout San Diego and Imperial counties.   For links to Web pages and contact information for clubs, click here.

Background Screening:   USATF requires all coaches to annually undergo a background screening.   Coaches or volunteers who want to learn about the program can visit USATF's site by clicking on this link: http://www.usatf.org/about/programs/backgroundChecks/.

Coaches in Good Standing:   Check the current list of San Diego-Imperial coaches and volunteer who have passed the background check:   SD-I coaches/volunteers in good standing.
